Adaptive technology plays an important role in making sailing more accessible for people with disabilities. With support from Progressive Automations, ASABC is upgrading the actuators used in our adaptive steering systems, giving sailors better control and helping make tacking quicker and more precise.
Upgrading Our Adaptive Sailing Fleet
Progressive Automations is supporting ASABC with new actuators for our adaptive sailing fleet. The equipment includes:
7 × PA-ST1-12-55-N-12VDC actuators
with a 12-inch effective piston stroke
1 × PA-04-12-100 actuator
These new actuators provide a faster response, helping create smoother, more precise steering for our sailors. Our maintenance team member Walter Hajen demonstrates the difference between the actuators previously used in our adaptive steering system and the new Progressive Automations actuators.
